Join us on May 1st for our Law Day Celebration With Florida Bar President Rosalyn Sia Baker-Barnes
Our annual Law Day Celebration will be held on May 1st at the 11:30 AM at the Club at Eaglebrooke. Our special guest speaker will be Rosalyn Sia Baker-Barnes, President of the Florida Bar. Baker-Barnes is a Partner at Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley P.A., and serves on its executive committee. In her 20-year career, she has successfully pursued justice for victims in catastrophic personal injury, medical negligence and product liability cases, achieving numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. She is board certified in Civil Trial law, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. She is included in US News & World Report’s “Best Lawyers In America,” is recognized as one of the top lawyers in the state by Florida Super Lawyers magazine, has been included in Florida Trend magazine’s Legal Elite, and was selected by the Daily Business Review as one of South Florida’s Inaugural “Top 20 Women in Law.” Committed to professionalism, civility and service, Baker-Barnes is the first African-American woman in The Florida Bar’s history to serve as president. During her longtime service to the Florida Bar Board of Governors, she most recently chaired the Strategic Planning committee and served as chair-elect of the Executive Committee. She has also she served as chairperson of the board’s Legislation Committee, Program Evaluation Committee and Co-Chair of the COVID-19 Pandemic Recovery Task Force. For the past three years, she has received the Florida Bar President’s Award of Merit for exemplary service on the board. Baker-Barnes is also active in The Florida Bar’s Trial Lawyers Section, where she served for many years as a member of its Executive Council. She is a past president of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. As the 95th President, she was the first African-American female to serve in this role. She is the recipient of many honors and awards: The Justice Barbara Pariente Award, the highest award given by Palm Beach County’s Florida Association of Women Lawyers; the National Bar Association’s Presidential Award and Nations Best Advocates: 40 Under 40 Award; Legacy Magazine’s 50 Most Successful and Influential Black Professionals; Business Leader Media’s South Florida Woman Extraordinaire. She is a past president of the West Palm Beach Chapter of The Links Inc. and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She earned her undergraduate and law degrees from Florida State University. She resides in West Palm Beach with her husband and their three children.
